How long does cataract surgery take?

Cataract surgery is a procedure that removes the cloudy lens and, in most cases, replaces it with an artificial lens. Contrary to what you might think when you hear the word surgery, cataract surgery is not painful at all because the surface of the eye is completely numbed before the surgery thanks to local anesthetic drops. The effects of these medications last for several hours after the surgery.
